I took the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto, it takes about 2.5 hours for the 500 km in between. I did not really have a plan, so I decided to go to the Nijo Castle because it seemed the closest to the hotel. However, I left a bit late and it was a longer walk than I expected so the castle had just closed when I arrived. Since most temples close around 5 I decided to walk to the Imperial Park. I had a look around and went back to the hotel via the Kamo river.
