I spend the day at Miyajima Island, visited Itsukushima Shrine, walked along the coast line, visited Daisho-in Temple and took the ripely (aka cable car) up to Mount Misen. After lunch on top of Mount Misen I met a Japanese couple, I talked with them for a bout an hour. Their english was not that good, but it was still fun. They were locals from a suburb of Hiroshima, both had grandfathers that died in second world war. I was not able to figure out if they because of the atomic bomb or because of 'normal' war. They were hiking down, which I did not want to do with my bad leg. But by coincidence we met again in town, where we had some caku with tea and we talked a bit more. They even invited me to their house, but it turned out they lived too far to easily get back to Miyajima. Also, those caku were in the shape of a maple leaf (which is the town symbol), so they look like those maple leaf cookies. Instead of maple syrup cream they are filled with red-bean stuff. Very tasty!
